Join us for Sunday Funday with Butch Moore!
About the artist:
Butch Moore is a singer/songwriter from Glen Carbon, IL, known for his acoustic, folk, and blues music. He has been married to Cindy Moore for 31 years, and they have two children, Austin and Kalyn Moore. Their household is completed by three cats and one little dog. In 2020, Austin and his wife Eunice welcomed their first child, Luke Alexander, making Butch a happy grandpa.
From a young age, Butch enjoyed watching others play the guitar and singing with his mom, with favorites like ‘Sugar in the Morning’ and ‘Honeycomb’. His early musical influences included the singing cowboys Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, and Hank Williams. The emergence of The Beatles in 1963 sparked his true passion for music. A self-taught guitar player, Butch began playing in the summer of 1965 at the age of 13, with his first guitar purchased from Grandpa’s Pigeon store in Fairmont City for $29.95, which he still owns.
For 35 years, Butch has hosted the Sunday night open mic at the acoustically perfect Stagger Inn in Edwardsville, IL, proudly becoming the oldest regular performer there on Sunday nights. He also performs annually at The Festival of Nations in Tower Grove Park in St. Louis, MO, and regularly at various venues in the St. Louis Metropolitan area, including the Broadway Oyster Bar and Grant’s Farm. On the Illinois side of the Mississippi, Butch frequently plays at The Winery at Shale Lake, Recess Brewing, Big Daddy’s, Copper Dock Winery, and numerous other bars, wineries, and farmers markets.
