Hess Allomi Cabernet Sauvignon
2021, Napa Valley, California
On the nose, the Allomi Cabernet offers enticing aromas of currant, blackberry and elegant expressions of vanilla. These aromas are complemented by layered flavors of juicy balanced fruit, most notably black and red cherry and raspberry. Plush, well-integrated tannins provide a round, delicious mouthfeel, and lead to elements of cocoa powder supported by a subtle oak spice, adding to the personality of the wine.

Stephanie Pope found her way to becoming a winemaker by way of a B.S. degree in Viticulture & Enology from the University of California, Davis, in 2004. After graduating, she embarked on internships, first with Trefethen Vineyards & Winery in the Napa Valley and then with Whitehaven Wine Co. in the Marlborough region of New Zealand. At Whitehaven, she not only fell in love with Sauvignon Blanc but met her future husband as well.
Stephanie returned to Trefethen in mid-2005 as a lab technician before joining the Charles Krug Winery in early 2006, again as a lab technician. After only a year in this position, she was promoted to assistant winemaker at Krug.
Stephanie moved to The Hess Collection winery in 2008 as winemaker, where she was focused on making the firm’s Allomi Cabernet Sauvignon and Napa Valley Chardonnay for four years. She was then promoted to winemaker for the Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon and wines of the Small Block series. The latter includes a number of varietals, including Malbec, Chardonnay and Bordeaux-styled red blends; they are produced using fruit from specific blocks of vines from the Napa Valley and other vineyards in Northern California.
Stephanie and her winemaker husband reside in the Napa Valley along with their daughter. She is fluent in Italian and is an avid photographer.
